All of you probably have figured out that Audi is my favorite car manufacturer. I mean, it’s even in my icon! Alright, back on track, here we go.
Has Audi ever made an ugly car?
I like the Audi SUVs (Q7 & more) which may surprise some but it’s normal for me. So, bring out those Audi pics. Lemme see some “ugly” Audis.

A2

Yes.
![]() 04/07/2017 at 20:56 |

Obviously but besides that.
![]() 04/07/2017 at 20:56 |

Wow never seen the back of a TT. I like it even more now.
![]() 04/07/2017 at 20:57 |

Doesn’t work like that. You don’t get to pick and choose what proves or disproves your point.
![]() 04/07/2017 at 20:59 |

Well, OK, but I mean we didn’t get the A2 in the USA.
Did we?

More often than not their cars are ugly.

Their entire 90's lineup.

I don’t know, I’m Canadian.

Audi 5000
It is not exactly a pretty car

Early ones from 70's & 80's

Probably couldn’t get more ugly than the car nicknamed the Ugly Duckling, Audi prototype 1933 penned by Paul Jaray back in the 1920-30s.
The car above is a faithful replica and was used is an Audi A5 advert a few years ago.

Say that to my face. And the sexy face of the RS7.

*Gorgeous
To blind people, but it is pretty unique :)
![]() 04/07/2017 at 21:25 |

Say that to the Audi 5000 (top) and the Audi 100 Coupe. Even the lower-level cars are gorgeous.
![]() 04/07/2017 at 21:27 |

It’s amazing for a lower-level Audi! But it totally looks like a rebadged version of the Buick GNX. No clue why.

I live in Buffalo, NY, so pretty close to Canada. I have never seen an A2 in my entire life.

“Ugly” is not the word that comes to mind...
![]() 04/07/2017 at 21:29 |

Take that back or I will buy you a RS2 Avant just so you can admire it and love it.
![]() 04/07/2017 at 21:30 |

To us. But Audi must of considered it ugly to use that car for the advert with that music.
![]() 04/07/2017 at 21:31 |

No you won’t, you’re like 12.
![]() 04/07/2017 at 21:33 |
|
Wut... no, no it doesn’t
![]() 04/07/2017 at 21:36 |

It does not look good. If I took that badge off and replaced it with a ford badge you’d think it was a taurus.

My Brother-In-Laws Q5 just shit it’s timing chain, destroying the engine in the process at 80k miles. They gave him an estimate of $12k to fix it. That’s pretty ugly!
![]() 04/07/2017 at 21:37 |
|
You got me on the coupe but I’m right regarding the 5000
Too much front overhang
![]() 04/07/2017 at 21:38 |

Brutal.
![]() 04/07/2017 at 21:58 |
|
Finally someone who likes Audi! I thought oppo was full of BMW fans :(
![]() 04/07/2017 at 21:58 |
|
Ehh, I’ll agree there, but they made a bland car look... less bland.
![]() 04/07/2017 at 21:59 |
|
I know, I know, German stuff costs a ton. But at least it doesn’t go wrong that often!
Unless it is an Audis engine.
![]() 04/07/2017 at 22:00 |

A SHO though.
![]() 04/07/2017 at 22:01 |

Alright, maybe not. But it looks good.
![]() 04/07/2017 at 22:01 |

*19.
![]() 04/07/2017 at 22:02 |
|
Well, it is sorta ugly. Too thin and tall.
![]() 04/07/2017 at 22:09 |
|
still ugly though.
![]() 04/07/2017 at 22:10 |

*shrug* I have just as much of a hard time telling BMWs apart as I do with Audis. Corporate grilles are boring. Not ugly, just boring.

Cmon man.
![]() 04/07/2017 at 22:18 |

I can’t tell the difference between Audi SUVs. Same with BMW. Just too similar. But all other models?
![]() 04/07/2017 at 22:19 |

naw that’s a SUT he’s talking about the SHO (Shitty Horrible Ottomobile)
![]() 04/07/2017 at 22:22 |

But for the period it’s from where everything was so staid and boxy.
Something like this is curious and interesting to see where they were going with it.

TIME IS AN ILLUSION
![]() 04/07/2017 at 22:23 |

It could be that I just never took the time to figure it out. The alphabet soup of names sure doesn’t help. Maybe there’s a really simple, elegant, consistent system to each number and letter that I just haven’t picked up on yet?
The TT and the R8 are the only modern ones that I can easily recognize.
![]() 04/07/2017 at 22:35 |

Time keeps on ticking into the FUTUUUUUURRRREEEE.
I want to fly like an eagle!
![]() 04/07/2017 at 22:55 |
|
That’s pretty bad. Did they skip some oil changes along the way?
I had 150k on my q7 before I sold it off. No major issues, other than a failed fuel pump at 100k plus. I’m hoping my new to me S8 goes as well. The S4 I sold off to get it was dead reliable from the 40k the 80k interval I owned it.
I’m surprised theirs puked the chain without some neglect or freak failure.
![]() 04/07/2017 at 22:57 |

Could be worse, could be a BMW engine. Vanos anyone?

He bought it new, and followed the Audi recommended change interval. From what I read on the forums it’s pretty common on the 2.0L. The forums recommend changing it twice as often. Definitely makes me not trust extended change intervals.
![]() 04/07/2017 at 23:16 |
|
Yeah, no doubt. I know I’m on a strict 5k mi interval for mine. Fuck that 10k interval BS.

Someone had to say it.

Hey Slant6, how’s it going?!
![]() 04/11/2017 at 20:57 |
|
Pretty busy with school, stuff like this brings me back in. Switched my concentration from product design to furniture design and picked up a marketing minor, so I really don’t have time for Oppo right now.
How’s it going with you?

Good, I’ve won a couple more awards recently, including an AIA design award. I’m working on a hangar/museum for Doc the B-29 in addition to a couple school bond issue projects.
Good furniture design is both rare and extremely difficult, so good luck. I hope you’ll improve the market for us Architects when we have to pick furnishings.
Marketing is a lot of fun for design majors (I was a couple credits short of a minor). It’s amazing how bad at graphic design/layout most of the people in those majors are. I hope you find those classes as fun and relaxing as I did.
